Title: Shedding light on the new physics behind the LHC di-photon resonance

Abstract: The confirmation of the strong ATLAS and CMS hints of a 750 GeV di-photon spin-0 resonance would have profound implications for particle physics. From a model building perspective, the discovery of the di-photon resonance may be the first step towards a solution to the hierarchy problem, and we discuss a possible embedding of the resonance in composite Higgs models. Also, it would imply the existence of other new particles beyond the Standard Model, with direct couplings to the resonance and electromagnetically charged. We explore here various ways in which the properties of these new states may be probed at the LHC.
