Understanding Theoretical Uncertainties in Perturbative QCD Computations
To compare theoretical predictions and experimental results, we require not only a precise knowledge of the observables themselves, but also a good understanding of the uncertainty introduced by missing higher orders in perturbative QCD. In my talk, I present a method which combines effective field theories and perturbative QCD to predict the effect of New Physics on measurements at the LHC and at other future colliders. I use the expansion-by-regions formalism to obtain an improved narrow-width...

Title: Singular Eigenvalue Perturbation Theory
Abstract: Eigenvalue Perturbation Theory is central to the theory of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics going back to Schrodinger's first papers. This lecture will review what is known about the eigenvalues in physical situations where one doesn't have simple convergence to a new isolated eigenvalue. Included are the anharmonic oscillator and Zeeman effect (divergent series and summability), autoionizing states in atoms (complex scaling and resonances), Stark effect (exponentially small resonance...

ALFA_CTPIN - a NBI hardware contribution to ATLAS
22 June 2015 kl. 13:15
Abstract:
During Long Shutdown 1 of LHC the ATLAS Central Trigger Processor was upgraded. The upgrade included many significant improvements, but did also mean that the input-output time was increased. For the Roman Pot based detector ATLAS sub-detector ALFA the trigger signals for level 1 trigger already before Long Shutdown 1 arrived only just inside the possible latency. The ATLAS Central Trigger Processor upgrade therefore meant that without a new implementation gaining significant time, there w...

Title: Constraints on Higgs boson couplings from a combination of ATLAS and CMS measurements
Abstract: Combined ATLAS and CMS measurements of the Higgs boson production and decay rates as well as constraints on its couplings to vector bosons and fermions are presented. This combination is based on the analysis of five production processes and of the H → ZZ,WW, γγ, ττ, bb and μμ decay modes using the LHC Run-1 data. After a pedagogical introduction to the Higgs coupling interpretation framework and the combination procedure, the combined Higgs boson production and d...
