Markus Ahlers - New Assistant Professor in the Ice-Cube group

Before joining the Niels Bohr Institute, Markus was a John Bahcall fellow for neutrino astronomy at the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Markus's research focuses on high-energy astroparticle physics and the phenomena of high-energy cosmic rays, gamma rays, and neutrinos. The question where or how this emission originates has puzzled scientists for more than a century. Markus approaches this problem via multi-messenger modeling of candicate sources. A "smoking gun" is the emission of neutrinos that can be probed via data collected with the IceCube neutrino observatory. Markus has been a member of the IceCube collaboration since 2007 and continues his work with the existing IceCube group at NBI.
