Strange particle production in the underlying event in pp-collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 7TeV with the ATLAS detector

Measurements of strange particle distributions, sensitive to the underlying event, have been performed at a center-of-mass energy of  √s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The data was divided into three regions in azimuthal angle with respect to the leading jet. In each region the number of particles, the average transverse momentum and the scalar sum of the transverse momentum were measured for both kaons and and lambda particles. The data show a small excess for  neutral kaons and a much larger excess for lambdas compared to pre-LHC monte carlo tunes.
